Frequently asked questions

How can I make a difference between systemical coach and other types of coaches?

Many different activities has been named as a coaching so far, it depends on what philosophy and theoretical basis are used and what kind of people are standing behind it. The concept of Timothy Gallwey and John Whitmore, authors of the Inner Game concept, is called traditional coaching. The main feature of traditional coaching, but of also many other coaching concepts, is the formal relationship between coach and client – client is being coached by the coach. Systemic coaching is based on partnership, it is respectful and constructivist, which means that coach is not the one who is more right and more objective than the partner (client, employee…). Partner in systemic-constructivist coaching is not an object of coaching, but active and equal part of the coaching (the partner is not being coached by the coach, but coach is coaching with the partner). This simple principle can be used in such cases when coach is a manager and employee is a partner. Systemic-constructivist coaching provides enough tools for situations when it is necessary to reach goals, however, coaching is not based on that. A comparison of the role of traditional and systemic coaching can be found in the book: Managing and coaching systemically? Yes., written by Klara Giertlova (in Slovak language only).
